The Hunger Games

Probably the most amazing book I've ever read, The Hunger Games has the action, romance, suspense, and humor that every kid wants. It is cleverly crafted by the gifted Suzanne Collins, author of the Gregor and the Underland Chronicles and most people agree that The Hunger Games is a great book.

Basic Summary (done by me): When America gets tortured by nature, the droughts, floods, earthquakes and everything else bring out a place called Panem. Panem, with its 13 Districts and Capitol live peacefully until a rebellion breaks out. One District is destroyed, the others are reminded that they will be too...If they ever rebel again. Thus brings us the Hunger Games. The Capitol call it their own personal game of fun and death, The Careers of District 1, 2, and 4 call it a good way to earn glory, and the other Districts call it pure torture. 2 Tributes, one boy and one female, of one District is sent into the Arena to battle to the death. Death comes to 23, wealth and fame to 1.

Katniss Everdeen lives in the poorest District of all, District 12. She hunts illegally with her friend Gale Hawthorne in the woods. When her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is reaped for the Hunger Games, she volunteers as a Tribute in exchange for Prim's life. Along with that, Peeta Mellark is reaped and Katniss is disturbed by the past memory she has of him. The two fight in the Arena to hopefully win and go back to District 12, back to their family.
